Why cant we be friends! why cant we be friends?

why do the people here keep generalizing each other? i see one theist say all the atheists bash him, another pro-God guy saying we are all trolls. and a lot of atheists saying that theists always bash us, always shove their ideas down our throat. i find that none of that is true in the context of a blanket statement. is it just the fact that forums lend themselves to people making blanket unfounded statements? i do know alot of theists who fit the generalization, and i know atheists who fit the generalizations, but the majority of people from both sides seem to be more or less rational. so why cant we just have the occasional civilized convorsation?
