Cracked Phone Screen?

Today I pulled my Samsung Intensity out of my purse and noticed that it had a very small crack in the middle of the screen. The crack is under neath the screen and i am afraid the ink will spill out and ruin the phone. It is currently fine, but i am terrified that it will grow increasingly worse. If i were to take absolute care of my phone allowing nothing to happen to it, will the screen get worse?
