If you're Okinawan but live in Hawaii do you call yourself Okinawan or Japanese?

Okinawans use to be their own people and their own ethnic group separate of Japanese, but today, Okinawa is just like another prefecture of Japan I guess. Do you say I'm Japanese or I'm Okinawan, to anyone out there who is this.
