IM trying to restore my ipod so im trying to save the music so they wont delete?

I try to click and drag my songs to a new doent but they wont go to the folder...So basically what do i do.. But I when i put the music on my ipod i dont put it in my library I just drag it directly to the name of my ipod and the swirly circle pops up....
