You still have to go to Vet School! Major in pre-vet science if the school offers it, if not, major in pre-med or bio. Then you apply to a vet school and once you're there, you will be able to specialize in Equine veterinarian. Yes, to become a vet you DO have to work on small animals AND farm animals, all vets have to have some experience in everything, just like all doctors rotate through all fields of medicine shortly. What if you have a equine clinic and someone comes in a with a dying dog? Are you going to turn them away because youre "HORSES ONLY?" NO! Just like an ob/gyn isnt going to turn someone away because they're choking.
